Malta to Receive New Data Centre

Malta’s IT requirements have increased significantly to the point that the island requires a new data centre in order to cope with growing demands. The proposed centre will have computer room that 1600 square metres in size and will incorporate 70 kilometres of copper and three kilometres of fibre cabling. The new data centre is required because the country says that its existing ones cannot support the increased requirements and are not sustainable in design for the future.

SingTel Mobile Appoints New Chairman

The chairman of SingTel Mobile, Mr. Chumpol NaLamlieng will soon be stepping down on July the 29th in order to make room for new blood. Just in time for the annual general meeting (the AGM), Mr. NaLamlieng will announce to the board members as to what his general plans are. He has remained as the chairman since 2003 but come his end of term, Mr. Simon Israel will take over the reins. Mr. Israel is 58 is the current president, as well as the non-executive director of SingTel’s Temasek holdings (this is the majority shareholder group). He will then give up all power to these roles come the end of the month.
