Clean Jeans: The Next Step for Catalytic Clothing

In recent months, we’ve seen eco-friendly technology take a great leap forward with the advent of catalytic clothing. Designers at the London College of Fashion worked with experts at the University of Sheffield to produce the very first piece of catalytic fashion – a dress that cleans the air around the wearer. Solar Cell Technology for Your Clothes

Solar Cell technology has been used extensively over the last couple of decades as a viable and ecologically friendly source of power. Scientists are now looking at integrating these solar cell mechanisms into your clothing for a variety of applications, including remote and hazardous workers apparel. Imagine as an offshore oil worker if you could have technology embedded in your protective clothing, that should you require emergency communications that you would be able to ensure your phone has power. Not only for life saving scenarios, the ability to charge your small electronics on the go from power that is “up your sleeve”, so to speak, will appeal to workers and the general public alike.

New Solar Technology may be up to 90% More Efficient

Solar technology offers society an alternative means of energy that is environmentally friendly and freely available. However there is a problem with current technology whereby photovoltaic efficiency can only collect a maximum of about 30% of the available solar light. However, the recent invention of a flexible solar film may change things as it is supposedly able to capture up to 90% of the available light.

Solar Fuel Harnesses Nanotech Power

Solar fuel, is it the answer to all of our issues in life? As our planet is slowly drained of its precious resources, will we now turn to solar fuel in order to meet the needs of our energy crisis? Researchers from York have now started to use the power of Nanotechnology in order to supplement the solar batteries of today’s modern solar power devices. This was developed in a consortium which has already discovered how to produce the needed hydrogen out of water by using retro-fitted nano-fuel devices. This selfsame technology will now be used to create fuel from methane gasses and create forms of liquid methanol.
