Freedom of speech is just as important online as it is offline and the Twitter account has proved itself in the past to be a major output of that. In fact a search of Twitter revolution will turn up the 2009 Moldova civil unrest, 2010 Iranian election protests, 2011 Tunisian revolution and the Egyptian Revolution of 2011; for better or worse disenfranchised people use multiple Twitter accounts to speak out against perceived injustices. The platform is easily accessible and has the potential to reach millions of people worldwide in an instant. Now there’s a catch; when you want to make a new account on Twitter, a verified location is required of the user and their tweets could be censored depending on the laws of that location. This might put hosted exchange services in an awkward position if two users are from separate countries. However this snag is a mere inconvenience since there is a work around to the new policy and it’s handed to us on a platter by Twitter themselves.

Recently a war occurred on the high seas that is the internet, pirates versus congress and it seems in case of SOPA the pirates won. That isn’t as bad as it sounds since a lot of our internet security and freedom lies within the treacherous waters the pirates navigate. Sharing a video on Facebook, quoting a poem on Twitter or even posting a picture on Tumblr; all these example fall closer to piracy than not. SOPA would’ve severely limited freedom of expression on the internet with its sweeping laws that do not differentiate between true piracy and simple media sharing. The punishment that would’ve been passed in the name of internet security and protection would’ve been comparable and, in some cases, worse than murder; the owner of Megaupload was sentenced to 50 years in prison at the same time a murderer was sentenced to 20 years.
This is a preview of
War in the Name of Internet Security – The New SOPA

Today’s online world has become a bed of interlinking and self-replicating viruses that, if not stopped, can completely wipe your business files out, crash your computer and, in some extreme cases, bring companies to their knees for, several weeks. An excellent computer antivirus is the prevention that is much better than cure in this instance. In cases like this, you really shouldn’t go for anything but the best because the cure can end up costing your company twice as much as fixing machines.

With everything moving to digital we find that most of our information is stored on computers and computer devices, which is why backup services are in such high demand. The possibility of these devices malfunctioning and losing all of the information stored on them, or losing the data due to fire, theft and human stupidity is very real. This is why it is a good idea to have the data backed up elsewhere, which can be done through remote backup services.
